Summer of 2020 the W/O, explored the practice of renegotiating our relationship to “personal” objects by placing them in unusual yet most frequented places: bathrooms, kitchens, cars, etc., etc. With each unusual encounter with the personal object, we played with the score of disrupting our visual capacities while continuing to perform the everyday choreographies of each particular space: washing our hands without the eyes, making a cup of coffee without the eyes, sometimes even driving without the eyes…

The deepest and most archaic parts of the brain are more than 400 million years old - suggesting that “we have seen it all before”...

This practice culminated into a video documentary in which we used those personal objects as a compass for moving in public space without our eyes. In addition, we began to add the element of language by calling out the name of the other as they blindly moved through the space. There was strange euphoria that arose from hearing one’s own name while blinded, despite hearing it countless times before.
