“It is urgent to consider the ways in which the world is available”

— Nikima Jagudajev

(re)Public is a public space movement laboratory that (re)claims, (re)negotiates, and (re)-enlivens everyday spaces. Movers, dancers, and body practitioners come together for an improvisation-based laboratory that offers an opportunity to (re)think about what it means to have and be a body in public space. Before and especially after the pandemic, many folx in the movement community found there to be a lack of collective spirit and non-product-based movement research; therefore, I initiated (re)public as a way to practice the art of collective creativity in spaces we already mutually inhabit.

Partnering with public space labs in Toulouse, FR, and Amsterdam, NL, we practice every Wednesday at 9.30 and every other Saturday at 13.30, using (re)Public as a channel to connect movers to their local spaces while simultaneously fostering global solidarity.

Ongoing Since Fall 2020

Alain Caillau, founder of the EXPERIMENTALBODY Lab (the public space improv laboratory based in Toulouse FR) and Imani Rameses, founder of (re)Public the public space improv laboratory based in Vienna) are inviting you to a subtle celebration of living spaces. Each week we give a series of proposals to guide movers as we begin to (re)negotiation what it means to move in public space. During the practice, the movers are asked to perceive the sidewalk, the streets, the squares, and the park bench as places of collective ownership.

Together we notice of "what is ours" as a way of celebrating the ever-present vitality offered in the spaces we inhabit every day.
